SCAVENGE tackles sustainable design, protocols, architectures and algorithms for next generation 5G cellular networks. Our overall purpose is to allow mobile systems and especially their constituting base stations, femto, small-cells, mobile devices and sensors to take advantage of sources harvesting ambient energy (such as renewable sources).
Besides, SCAVENGE will set up a training network for early-stage researchers (ESRs), who will contribute to the design and implementation of sustainable 5G mobile networks in Europe, and lead the related key scientific, technological, and industrial initiatives.
Replicate is a Smart Cities and Communities lighthouse project comprised of 36 partners across Europe (Bristol being one of the lighthouse cities), funded by the EC’s H2020 research and innovation programme and ranked #1 amongst all proposals in the call. This project aims to bring together cities, industry and citizens to demonstrate smart city solutions across energy, transport & ICT and business models that can be scaled up and replicated, and that lead to measurable benefits for all.
Clear5G’s objective is to design, develop, validate, and demonstrate an integrated convergent wireless network for Machine Type and Mission Critical Communication (MTC/MCC) services for Factories of the Future (FoF). Clear5G will deliver technical solutions addressing the challenges of massive deployment of connected devices, security, ultra-low latency and ultra-high reliability in FoF applications, like remote maintenance and closed loop control systems. The requirements of these complex scenarios will be met through the convergence of different wireless technologies, enabled by protocol and architecture enhancements proposed by Clear5G.
