For student researchers, the laboratory offers a number of sponsorship opportunities and industrial supervision of the highest calibre to include a 3 month placement in the laboratory. It has a track record of funding and co-supervising over 60 studentships at leading UK and European Universities such as Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, UCL, Royal Holloway, Athens and Edinburgh.

The research engineer will be part of the Systems and Network Group contributing to the research efforts in architecture, protocols and algorithm development for next generation wireless networks.
The Research Engineer is expected to work on machine type communications over 5G wireless networks for Factories-of-Future (FoF) and Industry 4.0 applications. This is part of an EU-funded research programme: Converged Wireless Access for Reliable 5G MTC for Factories-of-Future (Clear5G). The research will be broadly focusing in the areas of multiple access techniques, robust, scalable, and efficient MAC protocols, and flexible networking architectures for reliable MTC connectivity over 5G networks.
We invite applications from PhD level candidates in relevant topics of wireless communications. Having knowledge and experience in topics such as cross-layer optimization, MAC and routing protocols, system architectures, LTE/LTE-A systems, will be desirable. In addition, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a record of peer-reviewed high quality publications, ability to work in a team, plan and manage research networking and meetings.
