QKD (Quantum Key Distribution) provides the answer, providing quantum-safe cryptography across fibre networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>QKD normally requires separate dark fibres dedicated solely to carrying quantum signals. But with Toshiba&#8217;s Multiplexed QKD System MU, you can easily integrate QKD on to existing data carrying fibres &#8211; and without any compromise to performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deployed over an existing single fibre or a fibre pair, the MU QKD System uses O-band WDM technology to overlay quantum signals with network data, eradicating the need for an additional dark fibre. Using WDM, MU enables QKD signals to co-exist on fibre carrying multiple 10 Gb\/s or 100 Gb\/s classical data channels by multiplexing the O-band QKD signal with C-band data services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ULTIMATE SECURITY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All Toshiba QKD systems use an efficient implementation of BB84, the first and most rigorously studied QKD protocol, proven secure through years of research. The BB84 protocol provides inherent protection from quantum computers and any future advances in mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>METRO-SCALE NETWORKING OF QKD AND DATA SERVICES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MU system offers unprecedented, metro-scale transmission distances of 80km+ while transmitting QKD and data services on the same fibre, thanks to its exceptionally high optical loss budget (30dB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SIMPLE SETUP&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Multiplexed QKD Systems are easy to get up and running, with built-in add\/drop filters for simple integration into existing fibre networks. This means all user traffic can be passed through without any additional multiplexing hardware. MU is proven to deliver 300kb\/s secure key rates at 10dB channel loss, making it capable of supporting a diverse range of customers and applications, and providing headroom for future demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INCREDIBLY STABLE. INCREDIBLY RELIABLE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Toshiba, we&#8217;ve pioneered active stabilisation technology that allows our QKD systems to distribute key material continuously, in challenging operating conditions, without any user intervention. This avoids the need for recalibration of the system due to temperature-induced changes in the fibre lengths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reliability and stability of our QKD systems has been demonstrated in numerous deployments. For example, the Cambridge Quantum Network ran for 18 months with the only interruptions due to power failures and operational down time to introduce new software.
