Toshiba Quantum Technology

Securing our
quantum future

At Toshiba, we’re committed to delivering world-leading technology that protects the private information of citizens and organizations.

As quantum computing becomes more widely available, the volume and severity of cyber attacks will put sensitive data under threat like never before. Only quantum-secure solutions will be able to withstand decryption from quantum computers, which will have the power to bypass current encryption methods in minutes.

Our quantum cyber security solutions, based on decades of scientific research, apply the fundamental laws of quantum physics to deliver provably secure network communications that will remain resilient even in the age of quantum computing.

We’re Quantum
Security Pioneers

Toshiba has been at the forefront of quantum computing technology since 1999. Our solutions underpin the world’s first quantum-secured metro network, and we’ve created a quantum-secure communication platform that makes existing data-carrying networks safe from attack by quantum computers, without any compromise to performance.

We’ve achieved a series of world firsts in quantum technology deployment, developing quantum-secure and future-proof network communications infrastructures that can protect data from any threat – even those posed by quantum computers.

🔐 Intercontinental quantum‑safe networking has taken a meaningful step toward real‑world deployment.

A recent demonstration from Toshiba and Quantum Bridge Technologies successfully demonstrated transatlantic quantum‑safe data transmission between the UK and Canada, connecting live quantum key distribution (QKD) networks across continents.

The deployment shows how existing metro QKD networks can be securely extended over long distances using carrier‑grade infrastructure, without relying on public‑key cryptography. Crucially, it preserves the same level of provable security already used in live metropolitan networks.

By combining high‑speed QKD, DSKE technology, and emerging interoperability standards, this work marks an important step towards practical, global-scale quantum‑safe communications, designed for real networks and real operational environments today.
