Cryptographic Key Management Systems (KMSs) are the foundation of most online data security - responsible for routing and delivering the cryptographic keys that secure encrypted data transmissions. The quantum age brings with it the need for a more robust method of key transmission, safe from eavesdropping attacks and working in tandem with QKD networks.
Compatible with QKD systems from multiple vendors, Toshiba's Quantum KMS (Q-KMS) can manage secure key distribution throughout QKD networks. It offers a highly flexible approach to building quantum-secure networks (QSNs), enabling network operators to easily manage and add QKD functionality to their secure communication applications.

Our Q-KMS meets the ETSI GS QKD 014 standard, which means it will operate alongside other ETSI-compliant QKD systems. This gives you the freedom to manage secure key transmission across your quantum network, whoever your chosen QKD hardware vendor.
Verify the secure delivery of quantum transmissions, using principles from quantum physics to generate complex cryptographic keys and mitigate eavesdropping. The Toshiba Q-KMS deploys keys that keep transmissions secure, even from quantum computers.
The Toshiba Q-KMS can perform proactive key allocation based on the QKD network capacity. This enables low latency and a high secure key rate. Meanwhile, its ability to be deployed in a fiber mesh architecture makes it possible to re-route transmissions and ensure delivery, even in the event of breaks.
We’re maintaining our reputation for breaking quantum technology records, with a KMS that has been designed and tested to work with industry leading QKD systems delivering key rates of up to 10 Mb/s.
The Toshiba Q-KMS abstracts the key delivery layer from the physical layer, resulting in a logical key delivery overlay system. This provides flexibility and, on suitably deployed networks, enables features such as key re-routing.
